1. plug in the charger power cord or the battery charging port first? How to best charge your bike battery

A charger is the primary way to charge a bike battery. A charger is the equivalent of a small transformer, stepping down from household electricity to a voltage suitable for your bike battery to power it. Some poor quality chargers will cause a short circuit to the battery charging port if the charger is plugged in before the battery charging port, and a short circuit spark will emerge, which can cause damage to the internal parts of the battery in severe cases.

A good charger is one that doesn’t short-circuit and spark out of the bike’s battery charging port, regardless of which end of the connector is plugged in first. The best way to do this is to plug the charging end of the charger into the bike battery charging port first and then into the charger power cable. This reduces damage to the battery and prevents short circuits from occurring. Please do not touch the charger or the bike battery when charging the battery to prevent the charging cable from being pulled away from the charging port and deformed, resulting in a short circuit.

2. How long is the best time to charge a bike battery?

Bike batteries can be fully charged at once, charging 80% or not is not right, lithium batteries are cycled according to capacity, the battery is only considered a cycle when it is full and consumed, even if you charge 80% it will only be included in the next cycle, it is better to enjoy the long life of a fully charged bike battery.

Note that the bike battery should not wait until the charge is depleted before recharging, as this is detrimental to the battery life. When the battery indicator or the bike display indicates that the battery is running low, it should be recharged as soon as possible. The charge time should not be too long. Try to disconnect the charger within two hours when the charger light is green. If your battery has more than 40% charge, do not charge your bike overnight during the night when you are sleeping.

3. How to choose the correct voltage to charge the bike battery?

If you are unfortunate enough to lose your charger or if it is damaged, it is important that you choose the correct charger. The wrong charger can cause the battery to die. If the bike battery you ordered comes with a charger, it is best to charge it using the charger that came with the battery.

If you are using another battery charger please ensure that the charger output port is the same and also that the charger voltage is the same. Excessive charger current can damage the battery charge port. When reordering a charger make sure that the charger is a special charger for Li-Ion batteries, or if you have a LiFePO4 battery then buy a special charger for LiFePO4 batteries. For example, the voltage of a lithium bike battery is different from that of a lithium iron battery, and the chargers should not be mixed, as is the case with other types of battery chargers. 24 V bike batteries should use a 29.4 V charger, 36V is a 42V charger, 48V is a 54.6V charger and 52V is a 58.8V charger.

The charger current of the bike battery should preferably not exceed 3 AMP, otherwise it will cause damage to the battery. If you need a high amperage charger to fast charge your bike battery, you can consult your battery supplier or message me at the bottom and I will help you check if your bike battery can be replaced with a high amperage fast charger.

4. bike battery not responding to charging?

Make sure your charger is properly connected to the battery charging port. If your bike’s battery charger light comes on and you wait a few hours and the battery still does not charge, it is likely that the charger is bad or the battery is bad.
